Change is hard on us. It’s not any easier on kids. Hats off to the staff and faculty of Wolman Elementary School in Katy, Texas for going the extra mile to make leaving a familiar old school behind a little easier by giving families a video sneak peek at their brand new school. Bonus points for making it fun.
Now it’s your turn
Isn’t there something new around your business? Share it with your customers like the teachers shared Wolman Elementary. Creating brief video introductions, product demos, or even quick walk-arounds is easier than you think.
No edits. No fancy tricks. Start with a shot of your topic and just talk directly to the viewer. No script either. Keep it to no more than 60-seconds will do it. That’s about 90 words.
One video, one idea
Focus on one thought. Here’s a tip: before you start, know how you’re going to end. The Wolman video’s ending is a perfect example. A good video of any length is like a good joke: all roads lead to the punchline.
Make a mistake? Start over—or don’t; a mistake or two makes you look human. Do your video more than once all the way through. Pick your favorite version to put on your site. When you’re done, it should look something like this:
What matters is doing it. You can’t ship what you don’t shoot. Learn from those clever educators at Wolman and get busy: give customers a sneak peek inside your business before they even meet you.
